Nothing about the Atom 3's launch reached back in time and removed any of it.
What the Atom 3 brings is a shortlist, and it is a good shortlist: a larger sensor, higher frame rates than the Atom 2's hard 30fps ceiling at 4K, a controller that runs at 900 nits instead of 700, and a memory card slot you can reach without pulling the battery out first. Every one of those is a real answer to a real complaint about the older drone. Two of them, the frame rate and the sensor, are the kind of thing you feel in the footage rather than in the spec sheet.
Here is the part that should slow you down. The controller line deserves a second look, because it is the one that catches people who already own the older drone. That is most people reading this. The drone was already good value at the top of the market's attention and it is better value now that the attention has moved on.
